What can I say this place is amazing. The campground has numerous spots so while it does look up pretty far in advance, there are a lot of spots for you to keep your eye on. The spots are all so close to the beach. There are numerous trails and paths for hiking and just miles at beach. The lighthouse is from my understanding one of the few that's still allow people to climb to the top. And the view is so worth it. Back to the campground now, there are so many restrooms so you are never far away from one and they keep them so immaculate just pretty impressive for a beach restroom. The gift shop is tiny but it's got your necessities in case you left something at home. Make sure to stop at that gift shop to get a map of all the different beaches and trails you have access to. We've been here two or three times and have more booked ahead. It's got something for everyone whether you just want to relax, get some exercise, splash around... There's even a playground for the little ones.
While not camped there, a drive through was interesting. Many spots are not level and are overgrown overhead. Could be difficult for taller rigs to enter...nI did see several spots down closer to the beach that are larger, more level and better suited for larger rigs. Would like to try camping here sometime.
A quaint campground at Hunting Island Beach. It looks like they recently renovated parts of the grounds, to include the generously sized tent pads. Overall, the campground is moderate in size. Though the tent sites are close to each other, they all have plenty of space. We stayed in the rustic tent sites which have a tent pad, campfire ring with attached grate, and a sturdy metal pipe picnic table. The pads contain fine gravel and sand which is tent friendly. The place is quite relaxing - you can hear the waves at night and the breeze gently rustles the palm trees.nnAll sites are within a short walk of multiple beach access points. The bathroom facilities are very nice and well kept; park employees clean, and spray sanitize the entire building daily. Hot water, showers and traditional toilets are available. Outside the bathroom is a water spigot. The camp store is fully stocked with most anything you might forget and then some; plenty of keepsakes, games, clothing items and beach items. The employees are all very friendly.nnId like to see better paths to the bathroom and water spigot, as you currently have to walk past other tent sites to get to them but thats really the only complaint we could come up with. Ensure you don't leave any food out at night; posters around the campground mention precautions for raccoons. They will get into coolers (heard some campers complain about it while we were there) and other containers left out overnight. You will likely see raccoons and deer at night, and plenty of other wildlife during the day.
Beautiful place to camp! Located next to Hunting Island State Park, and close to Beaufort SC. Me and my wife are spending a few days here. We purchased a camper this summer. The Campground is very close to the Atlantic Ocean. Wooded sites, all with water and electrical hookups. Friendly staff, beach front close by. Very nice place to camp and enjoy our beautiful state. Highly recommended ud83dudc4c ud83dudc4d ud83eudd70ud83dude03ud83dudc4d
Nice experience. However, if you don’t want people to little and pick up after their pets you need to provide trash containers. I could not find any on all three beach accesses or anyplace else. Why should I have to carry pet waste all over and dump on my own trash? I guess the solution is, next time not to pick up pet waste!
