Griffin Market

We had an amazing experience at Griffin Market! My wife and I had the tasting menu on a Sunday evening, and every course was delicious. The owner waited on us, and he was a delight. His wine recommendation was spot on and paired perfectly with the meal. As Pat Conroy fans, we came in with high expectations, and even those were exceeded. We can't wait to go back!

Great food and owners!

We visited the charming town of Beaufort, SC last week, and were very happy and excited to find an Italian restaurant named “The Griffin Market”, as Griffin is my wife’s Maiden name! Coupled with being 300-feet from our hotel, we both thought it was kismet.nnThe food was very good, albeit the portion sizes were small—especially at this price point. An entrée that night was $48.00.nnAt one point, I asked politely for an extra piece of bread, and was told “No” by our waiter. I really thought he was joking. I asked him again. He actually said “Sir, I will get fired if I bring you another piece of bread”. I said “My good man, but I am willing to pay you for this” and he cut me off and again said “No”. This behavior perplexed me.nnFredrico, the owner, comes to our table. I ask him politely for a piece of bread, and he loudly chastises me for not reading the menu, which he proceeds to bring to our table and angrily taps his finger repeatedly at the small print in the dim light. My wife and I were both shocked and mortified. The other patrons in the restaurant heard everything. We were well dressed and being nice and respectful, and Fredrico goes completely sideways on us. Is this guy really being a jerk over a slice of bread? We are on vacation, trying to enjoy ourselves, and this is not any fun. Especially spending this kind of money.nnWe wanted to enjoy an experience—a moment, but the rude service made this impossible.nnThe food= 4/5 stars.nThe value=3/5 stars.nThe service=0/5 stars.

I tried this place already with my friend and I am addicted ever since. I liked the fantastic vibes and tasty food and beverages. 5 stars from me.
