We camped on the island in January. The campground is pretty with the trees and the canopy it provides. Live oaks are gorgeous trees! It was a quiet campground.nThe volunteers were helpful and efficient when we checked in.nMy only complaint is that they had no firewood our 4 day stay. We almost always cook outdoors over a fire and rely on the ability to purchase wood. It might have been an island issue because there was none to be found.nWe camped on site D4 and really liked it! We would definitely come back.

Haven't camped in a lovelier location ever. Tent sites are nice and large (water only - no electric outlets). Bathrooms are great. Service is on par. Camp store is stocked. Rent the bikes on site, but do come early for bikes and laundry - those are in demand.

Perfect place to camp by the beach if you're looking for leisure and not necessarily to hike/have a super-primitive experience. The primitive/tent area is not large, you will be close to your neighbors, but it is somewhat broken up by shrubs/privet, so we didn't mind. There are (at least i counted) 2 giant, well-maintained bath houses (spaced well, not a terrible hike from the tent sites), a little general store with the sweetest staff and bike rentals, and it's basically right across the street from Driftwood Beach (maybe bike, I wouldn't walk). 10/10 would love to return every spring!

Camped a couple days in our camper van. This campground was such a treat! Large trees provide a canopy to the campground giving just enough shade for comfort. The bathrooms and laundry facility are well maintained daily. The staff were helpful and welcoming. This campground is truly a gem, just a few miles from the main beach center and steps away from the bike path that circumnavigates the island. A great place for anyone who enjoys running, biking so simply just likes to enjoy some peace near the ocean. We will certainly be back... thank you for such a wonderful camping experience!

Great campground and friendly staff! Dog friendly, little tucked away bird sanctuary and close to everything including Driftwood Beach and Island bike trail. We had back in fhu site. Kind of close will try for a bigger rig pull through next time as that's more suitable for our size..but you know what? We would take any site that fit us! We are coming back!!!
