As someone who doesn’t have a car and advocates for “alternative” forms of transportation, the S-line walkway is amazing. My partner lives in an apartment near one of the stops and we frequently choose to walk or ride the s-line to downtown Sugarhouse to grab dinner, buy some groceries, or catch a movie. I wish we had more pedestrian-centric paths in Salt Lake City that made it easy to explore and have fun without a car.

The best way to bike, run, or move about the city. Especially if you don't have a vehicle.

As hotly as this project was contested by the inhabitants of Sugarhouse, I think the S-Line ultimately benefitted the area. UTA did a good job of making the line more than just a concrete and steel lite rail egress. There are tables and chairs to sit and talk or have a bite to eat. Some sculptures/art installations, grassy and shaded area. Also, it's not like it's busy, the S-Line runs every 20 mins.

The S-Line Greenway is the perfect walking path right through the heart of Sugarhouse and South Salt Lake. Although the S line runs through the middle of the walkway there are two distinct paths for most of the trail one paved and one unpaved with gravel (which is recommended for bicyclists even though most bicyclists take the paved path) with nice large public plaza areas on the major cross streets and a few places along the pathway to put down a blanket and have a picnic or family pictures. With both an urban and rural feel the greenway feels like a perfect slice of nature right in the middle of busy and very quickly growing cities. Eventually I South Salt Lake and Sugar House absorb more and more people through Urban expansion vertically this pathway is going to be very important for the overall sustainability of the region in terms of public access to Nature.
