Referred to this attorney, but I wish I never accepted it & wasted my last good hours for the day at this stop. It didn’t take more than a minute for front desk clerk Pam to reinforce every stereotype ever noted about small town old women existing in rural bubbles, secretly hating anyone they don’t know.nnIf there is a such thing as encountering a person who can bring the worst out of you she is a perfect example of that personality type. As expected, she began to ask questions before allowing me to see the attorney, who was sitting nearby in an adjacent office with the door wide open able to hear our exchange.nnThe problem is she initiated an aggressive, circular interrogation that went far beyond reasonable. In a law firm that should be informed about the complex nature of heir property, she did everything in her power to be confrontational & discouraging at the same time. She made a clear decision to not be helpful or gracious concerning the matter.nnFrom her small town bubble she was completely comfortable spinning the conversation into a negative, frustrating downward spiral instead of simply telling me that for some reason, they did not want to help me as soon as she saw me.nnShe did her best to conjure up a confrontational atmosphere so she could create enough bad energy to support her reason for preventing a pleasant / helpful experience at the firm.nnI knew from the first few minutes I wouldn’t hire a lawyer who was comfortable with someone like Pam at the front desk representing his firm. Words were exchanged because of course, dealing with a belligerent secretary who shows nothing but disdain & contempt for a prospective client is a perfect recipe for disaster & reviews like this one.nnI feel betrayed not only by the process & loopholes surrounding heir property, but by the people pretending to be there to help people like me through this kind of legal process.nnThis woman mistreated me in the last hour before businesses closed, making my 7 hour drive into Surry county partly a waste. I had to leave & head back to NYC due to work - leaving no more time to find an attorney.nnI called in over an hour before arriving & was instructed to stop by to see the lawyer. Pam acted as if she had no idea who I spoke with - she was so condescending that even my 20 year olds daughter noticed it. It’s my best bet that behaviors like hers & this attorney’s contribute to the 90% heir property land loss suffered by black Americans - amounting to billions of dollars in generating wealth losses.nnPeople give up after being treated so poorly & ran around to no end.nnBut it’s 2020 & at least I can leave this review of my experience. You just can’t treat people any kind of way.. It doesn’t matter if you’re tucked away in a small unknown town preying on heirs property or not giving a sh** what a potential client might be going through to handle these complex situationsn.nnI do not recommend this law firm or the attorney for sitting through Pam’s rude, hostile behavior without intervening. With a few exceptions in this town, I’ve found people like Pam & this attorney to be very rude, dismissive, & difficult to deal with. Imagine hiring a lawyer with a disrespectful secretary. You’d be stuck dealing with her too. No thanks. Do not waste your time.
