It is so beautiful and peaceful here. It's a easy, short little trail to get there - about 5 minutes from the road

Lovely little trail, about 0.4 miles round-trip. Filled with tidbits about the Civil War and the people who lived in the area and were affected. And of course there is the Vermont monument, put there to remember the Vermont Brigade, which suffered 1,234 casualties during the Wilderness Battle. Then, there is another trail that you can take which, I believe, leads to the start/end of the Federal line trail nearby, which is 3.6 miles one-way. However, the parking at this Vermont monument site is meant for only 30 minutes, so attempt that at your own risk. There is small parking further up the road, or you can take Hill-Ewell drive all the way to the end, where you find picnic tables, and that is where there is a better parking area.

A part of Vermont history that's unknown to many Vermonter's.

This area of Virginia has a lot of historical significance to the civil war
