The whole area needs a lot of work. Hunted there recently and saw a lot of illegal hunters. The lake is drained again and has been for the last two trout seasons. If you are planning a trip out here make sure you wear long sleeves and get ready to travel through thick underbrush as even the trails are becoming overgrown.

The largest concentration of trillium in the country blooms here. There are guided tours available through the right channels. The wildflowers are gorgeous, it's never crowded – along with Sky Meadows State Park on the other side of the Blue Ridge, this tract of land is a treasure. The hunting is good in season as well; if a bit crowded. For public land in northern Virginia, though, it's not bad at all for hunting. For me, the real attractions are the wildlife.

Beautiful fishing pond and a beautiful day. Trails are in pretty rough condition with trees down all over after all of the wind storms during the winter of 2018 and 2019.
