Jewell Meadows State Wildlife Management Area

I haven't been here for years. I was very impressed to see clean restrooms, which were never there before, picnic tables, and a very nice paved parking lot. Even though I didn't see the elk, it is a beautiful place. I have seen them before, and so can you. At dawn, or dusk.

Secluded and peaceful. Lots of elk!

Friend of mine and I were off on a spur-of-the-moment road trip and ended up here as our car sputtered to a dead stop in the parking lot (there was very little planning or forethought at all, and somehow forgot to fuel up before coming out to Nowheresville, OR). Parks attendant gave us a gallon of gas and directions to the nearest station.nnBeautiful country out here. Love to come back sometime with a full tank of gas and a plan.
