I stayed here in 2018 while on a motorcycle trip. Camp host was as nice as could be. I was desperate to find a non-reserved spot as the day was getting pretty late. She put me in the best place for tent camping. Seems like something changed from then to 2020.

It makes me so sad to have to give this beautiful campground one star. The area itself is picturesque, surrounded by tall trees and mountains. The bathrooms are clean and well maintained. But the camp host was belligerent and hostile. When we arrived, he denied us an actual campsite even though there were many open (which are not reservable by the way) because we had tents and not an RV. Instead of a campsite he put us in the “overflow area” which was really just the woods. If we wanted to stay in the woods we could have gone down the road and stayed in the woods for free instead of being charged 40 dollars. He then tried to charge us based on the number of tents, when the forest service website says that the fee is payed based on number of vehicles, and says that you are allowed up to four tents per campsite. When we said we would have four tents he got very angry, and claimed that it would be like “Woodstock” and that the forest service and sheriffs department were going to kick us out in the middle of the night and possibly put us in jail.nIf you plan on staying at this campground in a tent, save yourself the headache. It’s not worth being harassed, lied to, and overcharged just to stay in the woods. Drive down the road and camp in Darby canyon because it’s just as beautiful and free.

Amazing location for Grand Tetons exploration (close enough to Jackson if one wants to get involved in the hub bub of Jackson as well). Amazing and accommodating camp host, clean vault toilets. Precisely what I was looking for.

Very clean bathrooms, very friendly and helpful camp steward, great site. Good place to sleep about 30 minutes outside of Jackson hole. It was our base camp for exploring Jackson Hole and the Grand Tetons.

I spent 4 nights here 10 - 13 August 2020.nnDennis was very accommodating. I noticed he interacted positively with numerous people, including myself. Thank you for the candy (of which you let others and myself pick from the container ourselves).nnI have a tent and put it up, but chose to sleep in my car, where the back seat is always set up for sleeping. I stayed in an overflow area. Another woman, who'd driven for 9 hours and was exhausted, came after the sites were full, but Dennis was able to accommodate her. She only needed a place to park her vehicle.nnThe restrooms were ALWAYS stocked with toilet paper and VERY CLEAN. About 11 AM one morning, the restroom had the mild smell of bleach. I learned he cleans them (every surface) twice a day.nnIt was an interesting experience to learn how to pump water from the spring (WONDERFUL tasting water). I both was assisted by and assisted other campers (one pumping while the other fills containers as the water comes out). I was able to pump and fill containers on my own also.nnEDIT: I took one star off for one reason - Dogs off of their leash that go into the campsites of others. There is a leash rule. Perhaps Dennis could enforce this. HOWEVER, I think it is the responsibility of each camper. I go to the mountains to get rid of stress. Having other campers yelling the names of their dogs to come gets old. I heard LoLo COME, so many times, it got old. Including when I walked from my site a few feet and the dog immediately went into my site (the owner repeatedly calling the dog to come, but only standing on the road).
