I've been using this trail for over 40 years. Nowadays I usually just walk the lower couple of miles. It is a beautiful shady trail in good condition. It has some fine views of Scout Mountain. Except for the Elk Meadows area, the trailside has been closed to livestock grazing for 75 years, a rare treat in this country. It has a large parking area. On weekends in June and September, the best seasons, it can be a bit too crowded. It connects to several other trails in its upper portion.
