Since Tonopah would go bankrupt otherwise, it traps people passing through and hands out speeding tickets like candy. Shame on them. The cops sit at the bottom of the hill in a 25 MPH zone. Avoid at all cost and get gas in Hawthorne if you can.

Outside of Vegas and Reno, Nevada sucks major sacks. If you've ever driven through it and have more than 5 brain cells, you can relate.nnGot a citation from Tonopah for speeding. Sucker got me because he was clocking me while driving in the opposite direction in the freeway. I didn't even know they did that! I was so good about looking behind me and on the side of the road, BUT ONCOMING TRAFFIC TOO?nnAnyways, paid the ticket online and 32 bucks for the online class. It was easy as can be. But as far as I'm concerned, avoid driving through hell's playground as much as possible. Which is about 90% of the state.

Be sure and drive extra slow, especially late at night, to save yourself the couple hundred dollar speeding ticket the law enforcement guy, with nothing better to do, is waiting to hand out to anyone going over 35 mph.

A couple people and I were driving through tonopah from vegas on our way home to oregon, get pulled over for speeding, now i am a nevada resident for the next 3 yrs! NV suck! Stay away from nye county!
