The place is very simple, but it’s decor is pretty cool. It has quite a few tables inside and 2 big wooden tables outside. The food menu has a sufficient selection and everything we ordered was good (apart from the coffee;-)
Had the chance to eat breakfast here twice, and both times were great. Their french toast is excellent, and they do good stack of pancakes as well. They have a small dining room with a baby boomer nostalgia theme (Elvis posters, etc), and the waitress is quick to get you setup with a carafe of coffee. Overall, a great, classic small town diner offering reasonably priced, excellent food.
I've been around for about 6 decades, and I eat breakfast almost every day. It's often my favorite meal. Mel's Diner is definitely among the very best places I've eaten breakfast. I was in Beatty for different reasons, but it'd be tempting to make the trip and spend a few days there just to eat there more. Give me a good alibi! Cash only, but it's well worth the trouble.
Never dissapointed at this awesome place to eat. Food is great, extremely clean. Cash only. Can't get any better. Owner is friendly and has a backbone. Love this place.
The PERFECT Mom and Pop diner. Food was very good (had breakfast). They were slammed with a crowd but managed to maintain a smooth operation without a large staff. Prices are very reasonable. Definitely will return next time in the area
