What a peaceful place, what history here!

This is not a scary place, I think it’s really nice that it’s next to a cemetery, this place is not scary at all, just very sad.

Upon going thru the threshold of this cemetery it is noted the dates ( 1901-1911 ) The first burial conducted here was in May of 1901.nnAs you stroll the grounds noticeable plots will be a focal point. As in the brochure you will see The Sheriff, The Marojevich Brothers, The 3 Merten Brothers, Bina Verrault, William Murphy, and George Davis. Each one has history to be had and told in the City of Tonopah. There are 300 people that have been laid to rest in this cemetery.nnSome of the people that have been entombed here were due to the fire, plague, horrific mining accidents, and just gold ol' murder. Each plot has a history and some have been kept in tact while others have faded with time. But the headstones even though unreadable are still markers for the person below.nnOver the course of time, water from the Mill washed over and destroyed some of the graves. So the Tonopah Extension Mine donated land and the New Tonopah Cemetery just 1/2 mile north on Main St was created.nnWould thoroughly recommend - pricing is free, even though donations can be made to help preserve the cemetery.

I am kind of a history buff (newbie status) so I had a good time reading what inscriptions were legible. If you are sensitive to spiritual/paranormal instances, you would be wise to take or pray your protection. My wife is sensitive and there was an entire section she refused to go near. All in all a good rest break leg stretch location.

Very interesting! Brochure available at entrance helpful also. If you like history, this is a great stop. Just 15 minutes would be enough.
