Socorro Historic Plaza

Every old-school town has a park and some are as loved and cared for as this one. The ancient trees, and I mean awesome old trees, give voice to the fact that the town's people have dedicated their love and care for a century in order to preserve this plaza's park with such a grand shade place and peaceful lawn. The rotunda is pretty darn large and special.nnA good place to park your folding chair and space out, thinking about the folks that did exactly that and pondered WW1 instead of a Pandemic.....

A nice place to walk for a visit with friends or have lunch in the park. Small memorials, a cute downtown area, and plenty of parking. It seems like they host local events at the pavilion, and there are old buildings and small businesses around to explore. A good meetup spot for people splitting the distance between Santa Fe and Las Cruces.
