Great short easy hike! Love it when I need to get a breath of fresh air, ha ha! I did need some spikes when I went. Icy and packed snow patches.

Other reviews have mentioned a lack of water at the faucets. That's true, so plan for it. There are also mentions of smelly privies (toilet buildings). They were fine when we were there in late August, and our site was right next to one. The key to keeping them from smelling bad is to close the toilet lid when you're done. That makes their ventilation systems work correctly.nnThe campsites themselves are very nice. In addition to developed camping pads, which provide smooth, flat ground for tents, the picnic table and fire pit areas are paved and have landscape walls. If you're looking for a more primitive setting, this isn't your place.nnWe stayed 4 nights, including a Saturday, and there were no significant noise problems. That will, of course, vary depending on the people visiting at the time you visit.

The trail here is short but gorgeous in the winter. So nice to be able to spend some time in the snowy woods. (Note: The campground itself is closed for the season.)

Spent a long weekend in the Black Canyon Campground in the Santa Fe National Forest. It was a beautiful spot with recently updated camping spots with rock walls, fire pits, picnic tables, and flat surfaces to set up tents or RVs. There are 35 available spots, and with many being reservable and some first come, they fill up quickly. We were surrounded by pine trees and aspens, and there is an easy hiking trail at the far end of the campground. The bathrooms were plentiful and fairly clean and other campers were respectful. Do be aware that there is no phone signal (which was fine by me!) and no electricity. $10 per car fee.

Loved it, per the usual. Clean campground with easy access to trailheads. Most people are respectful about keeping dogs on a leash but beware of the random off leash guardian.
