Gristedes

Gristedes on Lexington Avenue around 89th street is a lovely store, but it is pricey . It is well organized and very clean.nnOn Tuesdays, seniors can get a 10 percent discount. They give you a card, which you show if you are shopping there on Tuesdays .nnThey have a wide display of products and the cashiers are pleasant.

Normally the only issue I have with Gristedes is that everything in that supermarket is too expensive but my review today isn't about the overpriced stuff in their store. I was at the Gristedes at 89th Street and Lexington Avenue on the morning of Thursday December 3rd, 2020 buying a loaf of bread for the children I babysit at my boss's request. When I picked up a loaf of bread I felt something moving in the bag of bread. I discovered a mouse inside of the bag of bread, freaked out and threw the bread on the floor. A store employee stomped on the bag of bread I threw and told the manager what happened. I find it disgusting that a local supermarket has vermin in their store. I don't think I'll ever be shopping at that Gristedes supermarket ever again. I even told my boss what happened and she is grossed out by what happened to me.

It's a clean, sweet compact little store. They have a nice selection of basics.

Nice and cozy, big variety of goods, including baby food

I like gristedes and John cats but could do without the dogs in violation of health code
