This is a pretty nice campground. Sites are dry, and have some trees. But overall they are close and not a lot of shade for most sites. The sites are close together, but being the popularity of the headwaters, this is expected. Keep in mind that the water is only available from May to October, so if you're camping off-season, bring plenty of water, or plan to drive to fill. We found that there is a pump house in the park, but it's a bit far.nnWe love the headwaters in the beginning or end of the season, but plan on it being very busy in June to August.

Nice quiet campground! Showers on maple loop were amazing!! Somewhat heated bathrooms made it nice and comfy! Use the north entrance to quickly reach the campground. Firewood is $6 a bundle. Fire pits were great for cooking, but are a bit elevated, so keeping your feet warm was a bit tough. Our site was wooded but very few bugs. Park rangers were quick to alert campers of severe weather as well. We plan to visit many more times!

Beautiful wooded camping spots spaced nicely apart. Not all camping sites are the same size so be sure to review when choosing a spot to ensure it fits your needs. Bathrooms are nice and well kept. Itasca is so beautiful with nicely kept trails throughout the park for hiking or biking.

Great campground right in the bike path. There is a small playground for kids. There is firewood available for purchase for $6 a bundle. Electric and non-electric sites available (20, 30 and 50 amp). Campsites are relatively level. Lots of mature red pine surrounding the campsites.nnThere are a couple of downsides to the campground. First, there is only one dump station and it's only accessible by going to the Bear Paw campground (about a 5 minute drive). Second, some of the campsites get mildly flooded during rain. Third, there is water available for filling your RV, but it's not at each campsite.
