This is the noisiest campground that we have ever visited. I don't understand what makes people think that it's OK to carry on like they are at an amusement park while camping. And to top it off there was a gang of feral cats roaming the sites. It's cheap, but I would gladly pay more to reduce the risk of infecting the family with rabies. Good luck.

Went on a Tuesday on a normal week and was still pretty full. Not much tree cover between some of the campsites and felt as though there was not any privacy. The best campsites on the lake appear as though the people who occupy them have been there a very long time, clearly over the 14 day limit. People seem to be taking advantage of the limited resources the DNR has during the pandemic, knowing they won't get called on their violations. There were some campsites that look like they have more privacy and more of a secluded feel where you aren't staring at people on 3 sides, but as they were mostly full on a normal Tuesday, I can imagine it being near impossible to grab one.

Lake is clean and typically quiet. Everyone is respectful and clean even on weekends and holidays. There are outhouses and a water pump and many convenient stores right outside of the state forest. Highly recommend this Campground.

This simple state campground has a lot to offer when looking to get away. Settled just West of Brainerd, it's only minutes north of Pilager on Rock Lake. For $15/night it'll be easy on the wallet while offering a high potential for great summer memories. The campground is set up in two loops, offers a small number of really nice lakeside sites. Some sites are canopied by tall pines while others are in the open or surrounded by prairie grasses. We had site 4, long in depth and lots of shade. They have a number of basic outhouses for bathrooms & waterpumps to get you the basics. The walk towards the beach offers a few places to shore fish, offering up sunnies, blue gills, perch and the occasional bass. There is a public access landing & dock to drop your boat as you approach the beach. The beach area offers lots of picnic tables and benches for hanging out. The beach is well kept allowing for a lot of fun and a cool break from the summer heat. All in all, a nice little campground.
