I’ve been working for Discovery Bay now for 4 years. The owners Alan and Karen are wonderful people. They take such good care of us employees. The children that we work with are sweet and caring children. Rita is a awesome boss to work with and we have lots of fun and laughs !!

My son loves going to DB daycare. I had him at an in home daycare and he cried EVERY day I had to take him. I didn't have a great feeling about it so I switched him to DB. They have been great to work with and he loves going to "school." He goes part time but I can tell he has already learned so much. He is only 3 but impresses me with how much he is learning. I would definitely recommend this daycare.

I worked at a bank and would often have conversations with the owner of this daycare. After a while, it got out that I had experience in childcare and she offered me a position here. I accepted for two reasons: first- because I missed working with children, and second- because I would be saving money on my own childcare costs and taking home slightly more money. I worked here for a short time- and when I say short, I mean SHORT. It was very disappointing. After being scouted for months by the owner, I was fired by the director Rita after a little more than a week for being “overqualified“. Those were her exact words. This, however, is not the reason for the low rating. I was placed in the babies classroom. During the time I worked there they were feed an almost exclusive diet of ramen noodles, canned corn, and veggie straws. I saw that they had a menu posted, but it seemed to be just for show. They did not follow it. The older children were fed Costco bulk junk food like Pizza Bagels and Cheese Balls. My daughter (who was in one of the older classes) would always get home hungry and asking for food. You would think they could afford decent food for the children with the prices they charge. I mentioned a few things to the other ladies that worked there, and I suspect this was the real reason that I was fired. For starters the fact that they shouldn’t just prop the bottle up for the baby to drink their milk. There was enough time to hold them while they were fed. Its not like we were doing anything else- this was literally part of our job after all. Propping the bottle can cause problems like ear infections- you’re welcome to look that up. Secondly, to another, I mentioned that she should not be on her phone during work hours because our attention needed to be focused on the children. She claimed that she needed to keep in contact with the parents. Thirdly, instead of silently/passively observing the babies- they needed to be actively interacting and engaging with them and talking to them (even though they can’t respond) to help them develop language. It’s unfortunate that they set the bar so low that these actions were seen as “overqualified”. You would think they would want the most qualified people they could find caring for the children. I have a CDA, an AS, was a level 9 (of 10) on the Utah Childcare Career Development Ladder and over 6 years of experience working with children 0-12 as well as two children of my own. I gave two stars instead of one because the facility itself is very nice and well kept.

We take our 2 yr old daughter here and she loves it. We also have had so many compliments about how smart she is already and how social she is with other kids... Also, most days as we are driving to daycare and she can see the building she yells out "DAYCAREEEEE!" because she is excited to go. The staff are wonderful and care about our daughter and are very thorough on everything. We love it here. Thank you all

DO NOT send your child here. At first I was very impressed by the kindness and service. But after they had my money they were extremely difficult to work with. I was receiving state assistance to help pay for the cost. Discovery Charged both the state and me the full amount!! I provided all the statements and proof totaling almost $1500 and they are refusing to refund it. This place is a total scam. The worst part is, as soon as I mentioned the error a few weeks ago .. my son left daycare crying that they were being mean to him. I was heartbroken and stopped taking him. Now, as a single mother of four small children I’m at risk of loosing my job. Please don’t send your babies here.
