This is a wonderful little lodge. Clean rooms and the staff is friendly and helpful. There are some pet-friendly rooms; be sure to reserve one, if you need one.nnThe Boondocks Fish House (separately owned) is a new in park dining option. The food is well worth the wait and reasonably priced.
Beautiful lake and sunset. The trails in the park are not well maintained, and other items are not as advertised. They do not have firewood available at the lodge. They also don’t have spa water or complimentary snacks available at the lodge. The tv in my cabin didn’t work, and I got no help other than advice on how to work the remote. The bikes they claim to have for checking out - there are two and they’re both broken. I still enjoyed my very low key weekend away, but I would not have chosen this location had I known the trails wouldn’t be great and the bikes weren’t actually available. The cabin was good - I appreciated having my own kitchen. It would be especially great for a larger group. The price was high considering not much promised was actually delivered.nnStars for views of the lake, a weekend seeing very few people. Downsides: false advertising, poor customer service, cabin not super clean, value for the price.nnIf you’re coming for Providence Canyon, Florence Marina State Park is closer and nicer.nnAlso, I don’t recommend Phenomenal Trail if you’re hiking alone. You can just drive down to the dam and adjacent park - that’s the only good part of the walk.
This was one of the best experiences I have had. The staff is very friendly and polite. The rooms ,though they are not completely modern, it was very clean. The on site restaurant was absolutely wonderful! The food was so tasty! The hiking trail was fun as was the beach! We will definitely be going back!!
We went and walked the trails. The only one visible for us to follow was the golf cart one. The others we didn't see a clear path so didn't venture down them. The marina building was closed. The area was beautiful. Other than getting use of the lake I don't know what else to do. We stayed at Cotton Hill tent camping and explored what we could of this State Park.
I give the park 5 stars & the lodge 3. The park is beautiful with plenty of views. Good boat ramps. The rooms, on the other hand, are in dire need of upgrades. The mattress was past it’s useful life and the pillows were worn out. I could never find online but Check-in is 4 EST & check-out is 11. The restaurant is only open on weekends, so plan accordingly, although we found a nice hole in the wall, KJ’s Grilling Company, with great food in Ft. Gaines, 4 miles away.
