I haven't been there in more than 25 years but have MANY AWESOME childhood memories of Orchard Lake. I absolutely LOVED going there as a kid with my parents. I've only made it there once as an adult but the memories are great enough to have me looking into it now. It is a shame the apples are gone though. I used to love the cider in the late fall. Great to see that it is still in operation and my hopes to make it back there one day still alive!

Great family atmosphere. Plenty of activities for kiddos! Hiking trails near. Blue Ridge Parkway is close. A lot of year round trailers here, too. Very laid back. A good place to camp that allows access to Chimney Rock, Bat Cave and Lake Lure.

The roads going up to the campgrounds are very curvy and only white enough for one vehicle.nNeed more signs for the campground before you get to the entrance it is so easy to miss then you have to make a hairpin curve and I told her the back end of my fifth wheel off. This campground is not made for 32-ft fifth wheel with 4-door, long wheel base pickup truck.

Beautiful campground. We had the lake to ourselves a few times this week. Enjoyed the canoes and slide on floating dock. Nice that you offer that. Highly recommend this place, and if have kids... sites A through G are awesome.... full view of lake and grassy area.

Campground laid out very nicely. Two ponds, free boats, disc gold, driving range, horseshoes. Lots of permanent campers, almost half, but most are in there own section with the exception of a few. It is off the beaten path, so may be intimidating to drive to with a large RV. All in all, a great choice to be in the mountains.
