This place is amazing! The staff was so pleasant and helpful. The grounds are very clean and well kept. If you're looking for a party pad, this isn't it but if you're looking for a peaceful get away this is for you.nnWe will definitely be back soon!!

If I could give this place zero stars, I would! The owner of this place is a disgusting human being and will scam you out of money! You think that when you're trying to support a small business, and you spend about $1,000, you would be treated with dignity and respect. The lady at the register is super sweet and nice but the owner is horrible. We brought the boat back after a nice day of fishing. Immediately the owner said there's a $25 cleaning fee, which the boat was never dirty and we cleaned it ourself. The owner continued to argue with us about this. We refuse to give him the $25 because the boat is spotless and we took very good care of it. There was never a mention about $25 cleaning fee to us when we rented the boat. The owner continued to say that we would be banned from the marina forever and then he kept yelling at us and said that our vehicles would be towed if we didn't put the stickers on correctly which we had the stickers on inside the dash. All the other trucks were the same way and he said that he would tow them as well. The owner is just trying to make money and scam you. I will be reporting them to BBB! Don't understand how someone like him stays open for business! Should have listened to some of the other reviews. That's why he has three stars.

If I could give this establishment -5 stars I would. This place has the potential to be a 5 star retreat. Perfect for family getaways and fishing trips. But instead of having a pleasant time at Carolina King Retreat you’ll be harassed by an old grumpy man who is completely miserable with his own life. Our bass club recently took a trip for 5 days. During our time we had multiple run ins with the old man over absolutely nothing. Check out is at 11 but it says you have until 12 or then you’ll be charged. Well, since checkout was at 11 we fished Sunday morning until 11. But we had parked our boats in the spots by the water instead of our cabin. Trying to help out and be out of the way so they could go in and clean the place. Well, at 11 when we came in, I went to get the truck and noticed a “parking ticket” on the window of multiple vehicles who had stickers. The old man proceeds to tell me that at 11 o clock you have to be off of the premises. I then argued that there were no signs on “NO parking” and no where did I read about receiving “parking tickets” when you pay to stay somewhere. He then said “well, as a matter of fact. Y’all just don’t ever come back here” keep in mind we had two cabins rents. One of which was the big house. A total of 20 people paying to stay there. All I can say is we will never stay there again. I’d look elsewhere.

Lucked out! Found Carolina King Resort online while searching for a unique remote place on the lake to spend out Thanksgiving weekend. We had an absolutely adorable log cabin on the water with a loft, screened porch, plenty of parking, perfect kitchen for meals, and perfect TV for the games. Our pontoon boat had a brand new motor and battery. We caught several large catfish and the fish cleaning station was roofed with water and lights. Fell in love with Charlotte over the phone and she was even sweeter in person. And Virginia was so nice and helpful and a great fisherman herself. Mr Bell is the owner of this prime enviable magnificent piece of real estate, and if you express kindness and respect towards it you will get it back. My husband bonded with Mr Bell on his first meeting and took the time to talk fishing and hunting with him. He lives on the property and his goal is to run a tidy clean and orderly operation while hosting so many different guests...just like I would want my home to be treated by my guests. All in all it was a wonderful weekend experience, fun and stress free, and we are booking two more stays over the winter. Thanks to Travis too, who is a dedicated and cheerful employee who helped with our boat and brought me anything I asked for. I would just like to say how disappointed i am in this establishment. I’ve seen the rest of these reviews and i can honestly say much like others i wouldn’t even give them one star if given the chance. Me and my boyfriend decided to go out and fish on his boat for the day since we are both in college and rarely get the time to go out.nWhen we pulled up by boyfriend went inside and payed to go use the landing and fish for the day. After a long day in the boat we heading back when the propeller of our boat had gotten tangled up in Lilly pads which took some time for us to get untangled we got back to the landing at 7:50 and waited for another boat to back down so that they could get their boat out. At this time it was around 7:56 and we backed down the truck and loaded up the boat when the owner rushed outside and started harassing us. He told us “ can you not read a sign it says not to back down” which my boyfriend replied he was sorry he had just followed what the car in front of him had done. Then he said “can you not tell time” which my boyfriend then explained to them what had happened when he decided to snap back and say “don’t make your problems my problems” which really lead us standing there silent because our parents raised us with respect for others. As we were trying to leave he was writing down our license plate and then proceeded to call me “trash”. Let me just say i was raised by parents who always told me to respect other, be kind, honest, and follow the rules and that has always stuck by me. When i say i was blown away by this comment it shook me to my core. I thought it was ironic however when my boyfriend who is white went up there we had no problem but when i got out that’s when the problems began keep in mind i am Egypt and white so i do have a tan. I honestly couldn’t tell if this man was harassing us because of my race or why he decided to take everything out on us. This was the worst experience with an establishment that i have ever had and will NEVER give them my business again.
