My wife and I toured 18 different airpark locations in SC, NC, northern GA and eastern TN, and whittled that number down to 5. The next year, we went back and toured those on the short list, and while 3 of the 5 were all dream locations, Palmetto won our hearts. Why? In the end, it was the people and the spirit of the community. Two of those we visited were rather indifferent to a couple of people from Utah looking for a retirement location, and were also rather uninterested in experimental aircraft. If it wasn't a Cessna or a Beech, it wasn't good enough. At Palmetto, Joe and the rest have a genuine interest in all aviation, and it shows! Also, when we came back for our second look-see, they held a breakfast fly-in just so we could meet some of the aviators in neighboring communities. If you are looking for true Southern hospitality, plantation living, and a multi-faceted aviation community, come visit and we think you will purchase a lot, just like we did. Hope to see you there!
