I typically come here for the dog park where I can drain my husky’s energy. People there are friendly, there are usually enough pups to keep my husky entertained and poo pickup supplies are provided. I love that it’s right by a cute walkable scenic pond and there’s ample parking. For those with disabilities attending the dog park there is convenient parking right in front of the big dog park gate and seems to always be available.

Hunter Park is an exceptional park for all users, with great playgrounds, walking trails, basketball courts, a splash pad, large dog parks, fishing ponds, and more. But what makes it truly special is the elite disc golf course.nnThe Hunter Park DGC is among the finest in the state. It's long, technical, scenic, and extremely challenging, even when the pins aren't in their longest placements. The distances aren't too brutal but they will challenge recreational through intermediate level players. There are a good mix of forehand and backhand lines, with some moderate elevation changes and lots of water hazard.nnThe baskets, signs, and concrete tees are all top-notch. The only areas where the course is lacking is in benches and trash cans. It could also use some wood chips in a few areas.nnThe course is tight and has a lot of overlap with non-golfing park goers, so you occasionally have to wary of trail walkers, fishermen, etc. It's also one of the most popular parks in Tulsa, so it's not uncommon to experience tee pad congestion. Plan for a two hour round to be on the safe side.nnI only have two legitimate criticisms. The pins are often randomized. You'll never find the entire course on long pins or short pins, it's always a mixed bag. This keeps the layout fresh and exciting, but it makes it impossible to truly know if you're having a PR round. You can't accurately compare your past scores.nnAlso, there really needs to be a bridge on Hole 12. I know that's a big ask for the local disc golf community, who handles 99% of the upkeep and investment on Tulsa disc golf courses. So really that's a criticism for the Tulsa Parks Department. For how much community investment they get out of the local players, it would be nice if they could give a little more back and help us cross that creek without having to jump from one big stone to another.

It's been a lot of years since we visited. Still very nice. Maybe a few more picnic tables would be nice.
