As a parent that had 2 students transferring in, NHS has been over all a great school. My experience is that about 80% of the teachers do a great job on follow up and communication. We have only had one problem with a teacher in the math department when it came to grades and follow up. The counselor /advisors have been wonderful to work with and very, very helpful.

This school is not even that good, system gets horrible by the year only thing good is them building new things. the bus transportation let me not get on that they don’t even care when you call them all they say is “well there is nothing I can do” well what you working there for .

this school encourages hacking of its underage students. Luke Realrider hacked my 16 year old club penguin account, confessed on video, circulated a video of himself hacking into the mainframe, and the student was suspended for producing a video which casts the hacker in a bad light. If your student goes here, pull immediately, question about any inappropriate hacking at this school. YOUR KIDS ARE NOT SAFE HERE!

Very good teachers, counselors, and academic advisors. I went to this school for all four years of high school while participating in the orchestra every year. The band and orchestra are the best in the state and regularly make it to national competition. Norman High produces more National Merit Scholars than any other high school in the state, so if your child is gifted, he or she can get the best public education in the state.nnAside from the student who's actions caused critisism of the entire school, the school itself is a very good school. Norman High should not be generalised by one student's idioticy. It is very unfair to state a school encourages similar behavior by the actions of one student. This behavior was not encouraged to me or to my friends, and to assume this is unfair to us. We were encouraged to make good grades and go to college, which we did.

Class of '06 here. First off, this account is an alias and not my real name. So if you're looking through the yearbook you won't find me lol. I attended NHS for three of my four high school years and had no real complaints. I'm sure she is gone by now but Dr. Everidge was my favorite teacher ever!nnAre there drugs and other illegal activities at this school? Absolutely. I promise you it is no different than 99.9% of other public schools in the nation. If you don't want your children around that then I suggest you homeschool them and remove all TVs, computers, phones, magazines, and books from your home. Then put your children into giant bubbles and never let them out of the house again.nnOn a more serious note.. This school prepared me just fine for college. I was one of those students who did not socialize very much and often walked to the public library down the street on my lunch hour. The teachers were great at their jobs and did everything they could to help me when needed. I got a 27 on my ACT at the beginning of my senior year without studying any extra for it or taking it more than once.nnWould I send my own child here? Yes, if I still lived in Norman...assuming things haven't changed in the past 11 years.
