Given the current restrictions, this is one of the only places we could find to legally access the water. Nice sandy bottom and the water gradually gets deeper so it's good for children. The kayaking and canoing crowd may not appreciate swimmers, but all the ones we saw were polite enough about us enjoying the water on a hot day. ud83dude03

Great place to carry your kids fishing and boat launch for kayaks and canoes

Muddy shoreline but a nice place to paddle

Best place to paddle in the Raleigh area...no motor boats allowed. For a shorter paddle take a left to see the state park facilities and the dam beyond that. Bring your hammock and cold beverage. Take a right and go all the way to the end to see the beaver dam. There is a bald eagles nest on the right. If you are adventurous, portage over the beaver dam to lily pad world. Very cool. Watch for snakes in the sticks though.

My favorite “secret spot” in Raleigh! So much to explore, quick kayak launch access, great sunsets and fishing! Please don’t send more people here Google!!
