My brother has been waiting 8 months for records, because of Covid no one is working?? You have people working from home, at least have someone answering phones.

If I could give a 0/5 I would. Need a copy of my DD214 for a VA Home Loan, and they have been completely radio silent. Have put in an online application and faxed my request to two different fax numbers that they have on record (been trying for 2 weeks now at this point). My wife and I are most likely going to lose out on this home because of this place. Absolutely disgraceful to service members and their families.

My father in law, a WWII Navy veteran passed away 4 December 2019, Since January 2020 the family has been trying to get a copy of his DD214 . This document is required by the cemetery in order to have a service star engraved on a veterans' head stone. Since early January several family members have taken turns attempting to get a reply to our DD 214 request.. The effort has taken literally hundreds of hours. We have emailed, mailed and faxed the required form 180. We have spent countless hours on hold calling DMDC/DEERS and other Vet agencies attempting to get someone to respond. All this because some CERT clerk made a superficial response to the funeral parlor advising that my father in law had only served three months and therefore was not eligible for the honor... He in fact served from 12-10-1942 until July 1947.

I requested a copy of my complete Medical Jacket on May 14th, after the first shut-down. In August, I requested an update through the National Archives (which is where I sent the original request per their paperwork), which I received no response. I made another attempt at contacting the National Archives again on Monday the 30th of November, and then tried to contact them through their phone number on the 1st of December. This forwarded me to the NPRC, and I sat on hold for 6 hours with no one answering the phone. I tried again on the 2nd of December, and sat on hold for well over 7 hours. Today (the 3rd of December) I have been on hold for 6.5 hours as I'm writing this review. I understand that this has affected every form of government, but this is ridiculous. I have read other reviews where people have gotten through to an actual person, which I have had absolutely NO luck at so far. As I'm sitting on hold, there is a message that repeats about every 30 seconds that asks if I would like to press 1 for instructions on how to request a response online, or stay on hold to speak with a representative..... I'm beginning to wonder if anyone is actually monitoring the phones. If there isn't, I would think that a government agency would state that and give alternatives to waiting on hold. Being a good soldier I will wait to speak with a person, I don't care how long it takes. Not at all pleased with their customer service so far.

terrible service. Took five months to get copy of my DD214. takes six months to get acknowledgement of FOIA requests even before Covid19 pandemic. Archive Technicians are not the same quality level either. One technician could not find the information requested for FOIA request on a veteran. Resubmitted the exact same request weeks later and a different archive technician found the information requested. terrible. Need to clean house, update records search, train people better and replace management.
