Delaware is blessed to have many high caliber state parks. While Cape Henlopen often steals the limelight, Trap Pond is just as much of a gem. The northern most stand of bald cypress in the US will often make you feel as if you're in Louisiana Bayous. Hiking, Biking, and Canoeing are all top here and the campsites are clean modern and fun.

We spend quite a bit of time in the Dewey Beach area so while visiting this week we took a side trip here for the day. We initially stopped by on Sunday but 5 minutes after paying and entering it started to rain so we came back today and hiked on the boat launch side. The lake and surrounding woods is absolutely breathtaking this time of year and I love the smell of bonfires in the air. There are multiple docks along the trail which made our dock diving golden retriever very happy to say the least, at one point a huge gaggle of geese swam over just to watch him play. It was quite windy and cold so today's hike was a short one but this is definitely going to be a regular stop for us. Lots of birdwatching opportunities, I was able to get photos of a beautiful blue kingfisher. The porta potty by the boat launch was very clean as was the picnic area and the hiking trails are easy to find & follow.

Nice example of a wooded state park, with a variety of walkable trails putting through the wooded areas and a main trail circling the pond. Boats to rent and a boat launch, camp grounds, sanitary facilities, and even yurts are available. Bald cypress trees make for a nice change of pace for the area.

We recently bought an RV and we love this place. The facilities are always sparkling clean and it's almost like they only rent campsites to nice people. If you can, try to get a site in the back of the section as it is right on the water.

Very clean bathrooms. Shout out to Jason and his wife. The pond is beautiful this time of year, trails were mostly dry even with all the rain we have had. There are miles and miles of them to explore. I reccomend the Raccoon run trail on the other side of the road.
