This has been a favorite place for my family to visit for years, even before the major renovations that happened over the past couple years. The new layout of the campground and sites are well thought out and specious. Just beware....they have a new pricing method called dynamic pricing, which means as site availability becomes limited they jack the prices up. We recently tried to book a site for one of their Halloween weekends and the nightly rate jumped from $65-$130 in a matter of a week, for the same exact site, features and amenities. I could understand a $10-$20 increase, but to double the price seems very greedy and uncalled for. I have been camping for many years and never have I seen a pricing practice like this. I am able to camp for a week in the summer for cheaper than the 3 nights I was looking to camp in October. Very disappointed!
Visited with some family who was camping here. Was surprised at how big the campground is, it is deceptive from the highway. Lots are paved and look pretty big, nice playgrounds, and amenities for things to do while camping here. Would definitely come stay here.
The park itself is very nice the area in which we were was obviously newly developed. My one critique is when trying to use the bath allus they were filthy dirty and completely unusable.
This is the first time we have ever stayed at Fort Whaley. and many past years we stay at frontier town. The cabins were nice. I had my very elderly in-laws with me and there was enough room for them to have their own room, indoor facilities and a nice screened in porch. The first night we stayed in the front room that had a twin bed over a double bed, despite the fact that the beds are quite uncomfortable it was not a problem (after all this is camping). However the room has no ventilation so the second night I went to the nearest Walmart and got a fan and my six-year-old granddaughter used that room. My husband and I pulled out the sleeper sofa at around 1030-11pm. We put the cushions at the top of the bed and my husband put his pillow there to lay back and said that the couch smelled really bad. There were multiple stains on the bottom side of the cushions so we had to sleep with our heads down at the foot ens because of the foul smell. I was disappointed in this. We paid $574.00 for two nights and I didn’t feel that the couch was satisfactory to sleep on but what are you gonna do at 11 o’clock?nnThe next day I had my elderly in-laws in the car with me and my husband checked out. I called the sun resort number and left a review as well as writing to other email addresses that I could fine for for Whaley. We checked out on a Thursday and Monday I received a call. During the call “Stacy“ told me that I didn’t say anything when we checked out. I told her that if she checked cabin 181 Surely the smell is not gone neither are the disgusting stains. She said housekeeping would go and see about the cabin. And asked “what is it that you want us to do?“ I told her that I didn’t feel it was my place to tell her what to do and I would assume they have protocol for when this type of thing. I replied “we don’t have a protocol for this”nHonestly I would assume that at least a partial refund would be offered back to us. The couch counts as places to sleep and it was disgusting. If this isn’t rectified I don’t think that I would recommend Fort Wayne early or ever stay there again.nService at the campground was more than satisfactory, service with Stacie who I assume is a type of supervisor was less than satisfactory and very unprofessional in my opinion. Apparently customer satisfaction doesn’t mean much to her
Any and every amenity you want. Safe, family friendly lots of activities and within minutes to the beach. Highly recommend
