The outdoors provide an opportunity to reflect and to learn. The Chalmette Battlefield and National Cemetery.nnThere is plenty of space to stay physically distanced, and the plaques provide an opportunity to let yourself be your guide around this historic spot.nnTake an opportunity to walk on the levee and reflect with the help of the majestic wonder of the Mississippi River.nnWalk through the National Cemetery to take a step back in history and learn.nnA worthy place to spend an afternoon.

This is a nice place to bring my little one for some running. The space is so large and there are generally few people, so that social distancing is easy. We love to eat lunch under the trees and walk along the levee. He thinks the monument is super neat. Haven't been in the museum. Do watch out for ants, of course.

The battlefield itself is an excellent place to pause and appreciate history, but not much other than that. It is a great representation of how battles were fought in 1812! I highly recommend spending most of your time at the Chalmette Battlefield and National Cemetery Museum, Malus-Beauregard House, and/or walking the various paths.

Pretty cool location in St. Bernard parish. Only a short drive from New Orleans.nnParking is free and readily available.nnThere is a walking loop that took my wife and me 60 min or so to walk around. We took our time, so it would be faster if you didn’t stop for pictures like we did.nnOverall, this is a great, free, historical place to visit!

Amazing Easter day to explore. We used the Creole Queen paddleboat to get us there. They had bottomless mimosas and we were able to take with us to explore this battlefield.
