Butler-Mason YMCA

The staff here do not care about your children. That's the bottom line. My child went to the afterschool butler mason care. She has a medical condition that causes her to be very susceptible to overheating, which can lead to serious medical complications such as heat strokes. Despite being informed of this, the staff would attempt to force her to play sports after school, and then punish her when she'd refuse. The staff are more interested in having a pact with each other than in standing up for the unacceptable treatment of the children in their care, when other staff memebers are abusing their positions of power. I do not reccomend sending your children here.nIt's also worth noting that a child was molested in the bathrooms there not long after I cancelled our memebership.

My daughter enjoyed the gymnastics program. She is 7. I would stay and watch the coaches during her class time there. They didn’t seem to push the kids at all. They would route them thru the equipment and let them mostly play. A lot of standing around talking. I’ve never seen such disinterested coaching. Most of the coaches are very young and seem to only be going through the motions. There was an effort to send home “progress” reports occasionally but that didn’t match what I saw on the floor.nMy daughter was there for extracurricular fun. We weren’t searching for Gold medal coaching. However a bit more work from the employees and a little less reliance on the child teaching themselves would hv been appreciated. Maybe make it fun to achieve a new skill? I saw none of that. For the $ they are charging parents monthly this program isn’t worth the time. The $ and the coaching effort doesn’t match. I gave it a few months before pulling the plug. If the coaches were better i would hv views it less as a waste of $ and more as an investmentnEven after an email to the program director I didn’t see change. I asked for the coaches to please recognize my daughters lack of confidence since she was a beginner and offer her more encouragement. I decided to not try a 2nd email. I received an answer but never saw a difference in their coaching. That big window they have there where parents can observe is sort of a tell all.nThe facility is nice. It is the best equipment gymnastics gym I have seen in our area.nIt’s really a shame. Maybe they could benefit from better leadership of the program.

Below that is a schedule of times open.nWe came at 11:45 on Wednesday with children and were told the pool isn't open for the public until 1:00nAs YMCA members we were very unhappy.nIt seems to me that you wouldn't want to make kids cry.
