Emerald Coast Sailing School & Charters

My family, including my wife and our 12 and 14 year old kids, spent 4 days with Ben learning how to sail and preparing for the ASA 101 and 103 tests. In short-it was a fantastic experience. Ben was patient with each of us, making sure we understood what to do each step of the way. He also recognized it was a vacation for us, so we took a little time to watch dolphins and to swim. Even during (what seemed to us) the wrong moves we made, Ben was calm, retraced our steps around what went wrong, and how to be better. Ben and his dad also worked to ensure our stay on the boat was comfortable. I would strongly recommend this experience. We also all passed our tests (turns out Ben has a perfect record). Thanks for an amazing time!

My wife and I decided to book our Charter with Captain Rick and Peggy, with no sailing experience what so ever with the goal of testing the waters to see if we liked sailing or not. After the week we spent with Captain Rick learning to sail, living on their boat, and completing all of our courses, I can confidently say, We are in love with sailing.nnWe were able to experience everything we wanted in the week and that was completely thanks to Emerald Coast Sailing. Not only did we find a phenomenal charter service, with beautiful boats, we maid some really great friends that we look forward to seeing again!nnIf you’re looking to get into sailing, or looking for a charter service, these guys are the people to use!

Peggy and Captain Rick are Great! My dad and I took 101 & 103 last week. we had some bad weather from tropical storm Gordon but since we were down there the whole week we were able to complete both classes with no problem. Rick is a great teacher and has a lifetime of experience and Knowledge. We would defiantly like to come back for 104 and do some charting in the future!

Once again, we had a great time chartering form Emerald Coast Yachts. Just like last year, Peggy and Rick went out of their way to make us feel welcome and to make sure our week on their boat was a complete success. They checkout was very thorough providing all the info we needed regarding the boat and Santa Rosa sound.nnThis was our second time chartering here and we are already discussing coming back for a third time. I have no reservations whatsoever recommending EC Yachts to my friends.

Chartered one of their boats for 10 days. They went out of their way prior to the sail to provide me with information to help prepare for the charter. The boat was in good condition. I took a docking refresher training that was useful and well taught. The whole experience was very positive until we came back. When I returned the boat there were a couple of items that needed attention. The owner reviewed them. He was clearly not happy and we discussed the matter briefly. A few weeks later, I got several emails indicating that I was expected to pay for the replacement of some of the items that failed during the sail. There is absolutely no evidence that these items failed because of an error I made and I do not see why I would be responsible for their replacement. The amount is not that much but the matter was dealt with very poorly. That's a shame that the post charter experience has ruined all the good memories of the very positive experience we had prior and during the sail.
