I currently attend this elementary school and I have been impressed with my ease to make friends in a student-friendly environment which literally has learning written all over it. Teachers are the best, people with generally good behavior this is the ideal school for anyone looking for a great school :D

This is my child’s first year at this school. It was a last minute switch as we had just found a house in the area only a few short weeks before school started. We had tried to enroll my son in surrounding charter schools that came highly recommend, but they were already full. Overall, I have not been impressed with the organization and management of Dillard Street elementary. I have felt very uncomfortable with the methods used by the PE teachers to correct behavior. During an open house one of the PE teachers seemed to try to get my attention by being “extra” nice to my child, when I have seen and heard how he’s spoken to other students. My child had some adjustment issues at the beginning of the school year, and he had said somethings about our family that weren’t true. Instead of being notified right away by any of his teachers or the staff, CPS was called instead which was very disturbing for everyone in our family, including my son. CPS closed the case because there was nothing wrong. It was by far one of the craziest and upsetting experiences i have been through as a parent. I confronted his teacher about it and she had heard my son make comments in class but never told me about them. Apparently rumors have been spread as a result about our family and when my husband, in particular, goes to pick up my son no one says hi to him even when he says hi first to whoever is at the front for ASP. It’s very rude and my husband avoids having to go the school when possible. My son has been turned away multiple times for breakfast, being told that he’s late. Breakfast is from 7:30-7:50. My son has gotten there at times at 7:40 or 7:45 and has been told he’s late for breakfast. It’s very rare he eats breakfast at school, but this makes me upset because sometimes he won’t be given a snack to hold him over to 10am (or whenever they have snack time) or lunch time. I’ve gotten calls from the school nurse and the conversation was very unprofessional. One time my son threw up at school and I was called to pick him up. I asked the nurse to give me more details. I mostly wanted to know if anything had been done to help him, like water or ginger ale or something. And they said no. I don’t know but that just didn’t seem right to me. I’m just not happy at all with the school and really hope that my child doesn’t have to go there next year, even though I hate having him to switch schools again.
