This park is awesome! There is so much to do here! Paddle boarding, canoes, kayaking, tons of trails, beautiful scenery, bathrooms, fishing, horseback riding (allowed), mini golf, ranger station that sells snacks, play ground, rope corse, and so much more! This is a great place to bring the dogs for a walk or just take in the outdoors. Well done Chesapeake. Also this park is so large it may seem crowded but there is plenty of space to get away!

A delightful park in Chesapeake off RT 168 near the North Carolina line. Multiple activities available from camping, canoe/kayak/paddle boats, putt putt and hiking. There is even an equestrian center. Canoe rentals are reasonable at $10/hour. Many fishermen were lining the lake which has been stocked several times this year. Surprisingly in these times of COVID safety they even have toilets that flush by waving your hand over the flush emblem. The first I’ve seen of this type.

Such a fun simple way to enjoy the day. If you like trail walking with your dogs, this is the place to go! They also have a bunch of other things to try and the area is beautiful

We visited in Winter. Nice trails through the woods and, when the leaves are down, your view can penetrate the wood for lack of foliage. We took the Eastern path and it appears that the side to the West is an equestrian trail as well. As you are near a river, expect a muddy trail if the rains have been recent. Although there are many wooden bridges, whether placed by city workers or Eagle Scout candidates, there are still not enough them to traverse all of the low points. Dog was in heaven! Nice clearing by the river and kayak accessible dock. New and well constructed boardwalk through the marsh grass to a beautiful lookout point. As it was late we took one of two gravel roads back to the parking lot; about 1/3 of the time to hike. Will definitely return during the Summer.

The park and trails are rustic. You can rent or bring your own kayaks. Horse trails and fishing all over the park. Rangers patrol regularly. Love the park.
