Gold's Gym

I have moved to North Carolina and do not have time to drive up to Virginia to cancel my membership between the hours of 10-5 Monday-Friday.nnI was in Richmond visiting my family this weekend and went to the colonial heights gym to cancel my membership on Saturday 12/5 around 4pm. I was told I can only do that Monday-Friday 10-5. Again, I live out of state. I do not have time for that. I was then told I could write a certified letter and mail it in. I told them I wasn’t going to do that and requested to write a letter on a piece of paper and leave it for the manager for Monday morning. The manager said that was fine so I did just that. I wrote why I wanted to cancel, my name, my account number, my phone number, and signed it as requested. I asked that the GM call me Monday 12/7 to confirm this was done. The manager said she would leave it for the GM for Monday morning and they would have it taken care of.nnI called the gym at 5:06pm Monday and requested a manager. The woman at the front desk gave me a nasty attitude when I requested the manager call me when she was available. The manager then called me back and gave me a snooty attitude as well. I was not pleased. She told me “Well when you give an attitude you’re going to get one in return” what kind of customer service is that?! This manager also gave me the same excuse that they can’t cancel over the phone and I need to send in a letter. After driving all the way up there to cancel my membership and being told it would be done Monday morning and that a manager would be in contact with me confirming this would be done this is absolutely ridiculous. So good- they lied to me. Again, the customer service is severely lacking.nnAll I want to do is cancel a membership. Why do I have to jump through so many hoops? It’s the middle of a pandemic and they refuse to help me or provide any good form of customer service. I’ve read all the reviews online and I’m not the only one experiencing this issue.

All the equipment you need. They've recently renovated as well and make perfect use of the space to maximize the floor. Very rarely overcrowded to the point it impacts your workout, even at peak hours. My favorite Gold's in this franchise/region.

If I could rate this gym 0 stars I would.nnThe communication is horrible between customer and management. We’re in the middle of a pandemic and they refuse to cancel my membership except between the hours of 10-5 Monday through Friday. Cool... during business hours in which I have a full time job and can’t go to the gym. I also no longer live in Virginia where the gym is located and they refuse to cancel over the phone. I’m not going to drive 4 hours to cancel a gym membership.nnThey also refuse to refund me the monthly charges that were applied April-June and the yearly charge even though it was applied in April DURING A PANDEMIC WHEN THE GYM WASN’T EVEN OPEN!!!!

I've been trying to cancel my membership as of 9/2020. I've called the gym and was told to come in to cancel. I came in and they told me I would have to comeback because that person is not there.After telling them I was leaving country, I was then told to send in a letter. After the email and a letter I'm still getting billed. If you may have to go over seas or go out of town alot do not get a membership at this gym. Unlike other Golds gyms in the US this one is not ran the same and you can't cancel

Its a decent place with a variety of equipment. It takes a long time to fix broken ones. They only have one tire for flipping which is a huge disappointment. I'm sure American family fitness has a few. Can we get some tires out back to flip for real. Its two stars because the staff is awesome and the fitness trainers Moses and Gee are excellent. Don't lose them
