We were looking for a place for a test camping run prior to a longer trip. This was our stop. A little bit pricey for what they offer, though we got a good deal for a lake front lot. The power post was broken when we arrived, but they fixed it immediately. If you can get lake front lots, you should be fine, but the rest of the property is in a state of disrepair.

I am biased because I grew up going to this campground. Since, it has changed hands numerous times. Dispite the rocky management system it will always be my favorite campground.

Not a place for kids. We were tent camping during Labor Day weekend here. We were put in with the built on permanent trailers on a hill with electric. The lived in trailers there are not kept up at all. But we wanted to make the best of it. The bathrooms are horrible. In other reviews, in response to the condition of the bathrooms, the owner said they were renovated. Wow. There are three in the whole campground. One up a hill behind the office. Teeny teeny shower, I'm not sure you could shave your legs without hitting your head, with a toilet, not in a stall, in a bare room. There was no shower curtain. Were you supposed to lock the door so nobody else could come in? There was another up another hill and another, with a bigger shower in the field next to the lake where, I think, the overnighters usually stay. The one in the field was the one we used most. The men's bathroom didn't even have a shower curtain! It had two poorly built stalls, and a shower where anyone who opened the door into the bathroom could see you. The ladies bathroom luckily had a shower curtain. The 'renovated' bathrooms consisted of very warped 2x4s holding up sagging untreated and unpainted boards. One stall would lock if you lifted the door up a bit. There were 2 sad sinks on the wall. No towels for hands, no toilet tissue. The toilet tissue ran out before things got going for the weekend and wasnt replaced. There was some pretty tile, but it wasnt finished. The boat dock at the office and the docks that you can lease are in HORRIBLE condition. In another review the owner said they were renovating them. Well, they didn't. Old creaky wood, nails sticking out, etc. It's sad because the place could be a decent campground if the owner cared and maybe looked at decent campground to get a hint. We stayed on the lake as much as possible so the kids didn't have to listen to all the loud bad language flying around and we didn't have to listen to all the loud barking dogs. And of course there was loud music. Oh! And then there were roosters roaming around, which I thought was cool until they starting crowing for hours in the wee hours of the morning. We finally had enough when the guy in the trailer across the road from us in the camper with broken windows, plastic over the holes, old broken down rotting car...got in a fight with his girlfriend. Really really loud yelling obscenities, banging, screaming, thinfs being thrown, etc. The kids were scared so they hid in the truck with the doors locked. The guy came out cussing and yelling. This mess lasted too long. So we had had it with sleeping on a steep hill, listening to dogs barking, roosters crowing, people yelling and cussing, nasty bathrooms, etc. We cut our vacation short and left. Oh! And the gate will not stay up long enough to get your boat or trailer out with out the arm coming down on your rig. It almost ripped the top of the boat. Guy there said this happens a lot and he doest understand why they dont fix it. I dont understand all the good reviews. I'm thinking it's from the people who live there and maybe they havent been to a decent campground. However, when ever we asked the girls at the front for something, they obliged. The lake was fun.

Poorly Maintained and Not Child Friendly. The unfinished plywood walls, exposed plumbing and absence of shower curtains in all the bath houses make you feel you are truly roughing it. Our gently sloping campsite was nestled into this community of young adults still waiting for their break in life who've made Lake Chesdin Campground their full-time home. No need to bring games or other entertainment, the real-life drama unfolding in this trailer park will captivate the attention of your children. Boating? Bring a hammer and study the decaying dock for hazards prior to launching or you’ll regret it.

The people that work the campground were so nice and friendly. We had a good camp site close to bathhouse and in a nice shady area. They have regulars out there that were friendly to you. July 4th was a success there and with a live band who rocked out and were awesome.
