Nice fields and oak woodlands and views of the lake. Mumford trail starts at narrow portion of WMA then opens up.
We stopped at Greenwood Wildlife Management Area while visiting Kerr Lake to hike Robert Munford Trail. There's a small parking area at the end of gravel Greenwood Road. The trail runs about 7 miles to the other trailhead at Taylor's Ferry Road, but we didn't hike the entire trail. The main trail is blazed purple and follows old roads. In about a mile, a blue-blazed trail leads to the cemetery where Robert Munford is buried. Munford was a prominent citizen of early Mecklenburg County who served under George Washington in the American Revolution. There are a couple other old home sites and other points of interest along the trail along with some nice views of the lake. And the trail is pretty remote - we didn't see another person along the trail.
Nice place to hangout places to fish from bank and nice ride by boat
Ok trail. Lots of ticks!! Deer, squirrels, toads seen. Minimal views of lake. Some mud, but passable.
Great secluded spot.
