Not a lot of people there during week
Boats leaving for Catfish Tournament.
Just arriving at Staunton River State Park is a treat. We love coming to this beautiful park in the fall, this is Nov. 1 and staying in a cabin that overlooks the river. Sunrises will knock your socks off, the park is nearly vacant and so wonderful to explore.nnWe borrowed one of the parks telescopes and happened to be at the right place at the r if he time to see the International Space Station pass overhead. We also were able to check out discs and have fun on the 9 hole disc golf course. If nothing else, come here for that! Part of the course runs along the Dan River.nnLastly go down past cabin 1 to the point. Where the Staunton River and Dan River converge, even with the water high after a heavy rain sit is so stunning.nnCabins recently remodeled l, excellent views from these deck and fire pit, plus big rock fireplace inside. We LOVE VIRGINIA STATE PARKS.nnThank you Virginia State Parks for another special place, and one of the original parks that opened way back when 1940’s.
Excellent equestrian camping facilities. Beautiful trails and friendly park rangers. Plus, the stargazing here is unbeatable!
Awesome cabins. Very quiet. Enjoyed hiking Riverbank trail (little muddy).
