James Monroe Birthplace

I had never been here before and didn't realize how close it was to Stratford Hall. It is free to enjoy on the outside grounds.nIt was very easy to find close to Colonial Beach VA in the same area where other famous people were born. Its close to George Wasington Birthplace also.nnThe Visitors Center and actual House now museum was closed due to Covid-19 but the Grounds and park was open. There is plenty of signs and its a very very nice park to check out when visiting the area.nnGreat to learn history with the kids and walk around the hiking trails!! Beautiful area!nHighly recommend and impressed!

James Monroe served for the Continental Army as a Major. And the American Revolutionary War; depicted holding the American flag behind General George Washington in the famous painting Washington Crossing the Delaware; wounded at the Battle of Trenton, depicted in the painting The Capture of the Hessians at Trenton, December 26, 1776 by John Trumbull. Why the 3 Stars? His Personal Background, Sorry to Say. But He Still Has My Respects As My 5th President. :)

Visitor center is only open on weekends and the reconstructed house is not yet open. Lots of good signs and a long but informative timeline walk.
