A nice place to leave your vehicle while you get out and explore the world. No meters or fees to worry about and the area is very safe. Make sure to lock your doors if your vehicle will be out of eye sight, of course, but that's something you would be better off doing everywhere. My daughter and i loved going and picking raspberries and blackberries there when they were in season. If i actually did hike, then my trust would be put in this place due to the safety of the surrounding area. I'm specifically referencing the people, for the reason as to what makes the area safe, NOT the animals. The wildlife are just unpredictable, so bring something to protect yourself if you'd prefer. You just might be able to use this as an opportunity to pull any combat weapons you've collected down from the display racks on your walls, blow the dust off of them and put those babies to good use. Make sure you practice with them at home first. You don't want to be defending yourself in a crisis and attempt swinging around nunchucks or a samurai sword for the first time. Oh and leave those throwing stars at home. I'd rather not step on any rogue ninja blades... ud83dude06

It's a basic gravel parking area, no amenities but a reasonable starting point to the trail.

Andy Layne was a great hiking experience. We went at the end of Summer 2017 and just loved the view. Very difficult in some parts, be up for a challenge!
