Just finished my first month here and I must say I love it. I moved to Boston and didn’t know the area, checked out a few different gyms but this one is by far the best. They have amazing covid protocols so you’re never feeling at risk, The teachers are extremely hands on and will help with any issues or questions you have. Super affordable and everybody there makes you feel like family.

Exceptional school. I’ve been doing BJJ for 10+ years and have trained at most schools in Greater Boston, and Broadway ranks as one of my favorites by far. The instructor has high expectations in regards to effort and respect, but does a great job of modeling both. The result is a motivating and focused culture, and a healthy level of competition. He and the rest of the coaches are very professional and kind, and provide excellent instruction. They are doing a wonderful job of running a quality school while respecting the challenges/restrictions related to COVID..

One word: Hooked. Forget about the cool factor of the sport or learning life saving skills (especially as a woman). It still boils down to people and how they treat you from the moment you walk in. The community feel it's palpable from the start and comes from the top. You will not be a membership number here. The owner will certainly not treat you like one and neither will any of the coaches. Show up to learn a new sport and you will leave the first week with a new family made.

I joined as a blue belt with roughly 2 years of training, and paid dues to several gyms in the Boston area. While this one ranges on the more pricy side, the unique culture of this gym makes it worth it. Although the gym is located in a basement and there are no fancy amenities, training here tends to be more focused and intense. The students are highly passionate and motivated and don't seem to take time off. If you're looking for something more casual or bougie this probably isn't it.nnKey advantages:n-Competitive yet collegiate atmosphere. They roll much harder here than anywhere else in the area, and many students compete often.n-Dog friendly. I can bring my dog here and she is adored.n-Expansive mat space.n-Leg locks allowed.n-Trains stand-up regularly. Offers separate judo classes, and wrestling is frequently integrated.n-Students seem to be held to a higher standard-- white belts are exposed to a comprehensive curriculum and must pass a standardized test. Erroneous and nonconducive behaviors (such as complacence, bad technique, stalling, etc) are frequently reprimanded. The students have really good cardio and really scramble.n-Tons of students including many high level training partners, several of them women.n-Diversity in weight classes, with many members per weight class. I have 0 issues finding people +/- 10 pounds of me.n-Flexible class schedule. Several classes per day.n-Convenient location, next to the red line.nnChief grievances:n-Not much lifting equipment (just kettlebells. Meh)n-Really expensive, but you get what you pay for.
