MynMY mother and several of her siblings spent many years at this school. My mother was taken from her parents around age 8 along with siblings because they were so poor the parents could not feed the children. They had no mental or phyical issues( the children) but instead was used by the school to clean, cook and what ever else the school needed them for. My mother was kept there till she was in her 20's when a local family who owned a local business needed house help and child care, the couple wrote a letter asking school if they had anyone who could be released to them, that is when my mom gained her freedom. There name was Beautiba, spelling may be incorrect. There is no info in your article about these type of children that were used like slaves. I went to the building that was open in 1995 and got some records containing info on mom while she was in the school and told the lady there a story that my mom had told me happened, she became very aggressive and told me basically that never happened. Maybe due to the fact that most of the children never wanted to talk about things that happened in those times. Any way I tried to reach Tom Cook at the number given, no answer.
