The Rosebud Battlefield is one of the most overlooked of the 1876 campaign which culminated in the Battle of Little Bighorn, and Custer's defeat.nnSitting Bull and Crazy Horse were here, and their 1500 warriors descended on General Crook's 1500 troops, and soundly stopped that column from the 3 pronged column sent to defeat the Lakota and Cheyenne.nnToday, it is a solemn, unvisited, yet very poignant place where Native Americans sought to defend their way of life, and their people and the land on which all depends.nnThere is a modest fee to enter, and you are your honor to pay it, and respect the place, to keep quiet, reflect, and do no harm to this place.nnHike the trail rather than drive.nnThis is a place of deep nature, deep spirit, and deep culture and history.

Not worth the drive or the money. One small area with some plaques and a map. You drive about a 1/2 mile loop and see basically nothing but rolling hills. The history is interesting but you can read that online. Nothing to see here move along.

What a great event. It is little know. Crazy Horse gave General Crook a real show of Native combat power.

Took my wife and my Aunt and uncle from Michigan met us in boseman and we all drove together. What a blast we had.crooks hill theres a buffalo jump. Theres warriors shields carved in the sand stone.we walked all around the whole battlefield it was awesome. We had lunch on the picnic table and i explained the whole battle and how crook had to go back to fort Laramie and resupply and custer didn't know.where the girl saved her brother by riding out and picking him up in the middle of the battle and thats a whole different story about her and what happened to her.but my family realy enjoyed there selfs and my storytelling ha ha.then we drove back to the little big horn battle and we just had a real history day of the whole experience of what happened to custer and the people of the land.get out and see America its its amazing.
