Switchbacks all the way down get a little tiring, but it's a nice trail with typical Northwest forest scenery. There are a couple views of pend oreille on your way down but it's mostly obstructed until the bottom quarter. Once you reach the beach, there are picnic tables and fire rings and signs that say dispersed camping. It would be a nice place to visit during the warmer months and a good place to go camping on the lake.

One of the more scenic early morning hikes in the Panhandle. Short and easy to get to, the first mile has several switchbacks that hide the shoreline. Because the beach faces south-east, it gets the best sun exposure in the first half of the day and can feel quite warm even in the spring. The area is also more sheltered from the wind compared to the points that jet out into the lake. We’ve jumped in Pend Oreille as early as mid-April and dried off on the warm rocks relatively quickly despite the lake being quite cold. Would highly recommend child carriers such as a good kid backpack for toddlers as the terrain is uneven compared to more popular locations like Tubbs Hill, Mickinnick, or the easy Bay Trail in SP.
