A pullout on the side of the road provides parking, interpretative signs and access to this lovely meadow, a traditional camas root-gathering place for the Ni-Mi-Poo (Nez Perce) who shared their crops, hospitality and knowledge with the American explorers Lewis and Clark - emerging exhausted after their trip over the Rockies - on September 20, 1805.
