Cool isolated spot. Lots of fish nearby jumping. Cool bones, rocks and cactus nearby.

Stark island part of Elephant Butte State Park. Reasonable hiking. Easily accessible.

Nice little cove to relax in privacy. Didn't realize it was named this way. 4 wheel drive highly recommended to get down in there, but not totally necessary. Giving it 3 stars because we went there for the fishing and it was lacking. Was hoping for bass, my husband only caught a few small cats. You can camp and bring your pets, each comes with daily fees. There are no trees so bring your own shade, and there is no shortage of a strong breeze so bring stakes as well. Theres a walmart about 20 mins away for supplies, even a McDonald's. On the drive in there are public restrooms & a large naturally shaded jungle gym for the kids to burn off some energy. Nearby there are also docks and plenty of shoreline.
