Make sure you know where your going. I was visiting some family and we decided to go to Brandy Creek Falls. We afind some directions on National Park Service's website and set off. We followed the directions u til we got a three way fork in the road. The directions to us to them left. So we did. It said then to drive for a .75 of a mile and there we would find a trailhead. After driving on the terrible rocky road with cliffs on the side, got to some even rough patches. The car we were in didn't have 4 wheel drive so we decided to try leave it and walk the rest of the way thinking it wouldn't be that far. (We had already driven about .50 of a mile) After a decent amount t of time I look at my pedometer and realise that we walked a mile. Whch didn't seem right. We decided to keep walking in hopes of finding something at least. We get to Perrier trailhead and that wasn't right either. For some reason we keep walking. About an hour later we get to Kanaka Peak Trail were we decide to take a break and try to figure out what was going on. I had cell servicw so we called the Park Ranger Station. The guy had no idea where were were and he gave us directions to walk on Kanaka Peak Trail until we got to another tried which led to another trailhead and then to another trailhead and then we would get to Brandy Creek Falls. I had looked up Kanaka Peak Trail and read that it was the most difficult trail in whiskeytown national park. We were tired out and decided to just walk th way we came because we really didn't trust the guy a the ranger station also because our car was there. By this point we walked 2 1/2 miles and it was 105 degrees out. We had a puppy dog and a Six year old child. We started walking back the way we came an it became an uphill battle. We ran out of water and it wasn't a fun time. Finally we reached the car and we turned on that air conditioning as soon as we go in. I looked at my pedometer enter and we had walked about 5 miles. When we got home we were looked online some more and raised we took a left when we should have taken a right turn at the three way fork. I am writing this a week later and we are actually headed off again to try and find Brandy Creek Falls.
