This is not a review of the quality of the food.. rather the incredibly odd service,. I called for 42 minutes.. every couple minutes, because the line was busy.. then I gave up and decided to swing by since it’s on my way home from work. Wife’s a NY native and she’s been dying for a good pizza. Here’s where it gets odd.. they won’t let you place an order at the location.. they tell you to keep calling the busy line until someone picks up.. their food is that good, and they are that busy.. but they can’t find a way to serve their customers. Really disappointing.
Akron has many virtues, but finding good NY style pizza can be a challenge. Thankfully, Luca's measures up nicely. Now, this is New York style pizza, so the big question... how's the dough? A tawdry vehicle for the cheese? It is not: the dough is delicious and has the perfect weight. The Luca's Special is our favorite -- it's alarmingly fresh due to the ingredients, and light while still fully satisfying any craving for pizza someone can have. A word of caution: it has very limited parking and is take-out only, so it can get hectic when leaving, but you can just consider it an appetizer for the New York life.
Best pizza in the greater Akron area. Can't go wrong with any of their options.
