I work in the area and the last few times I've been in Mt. Gilead I've stopped here. The first time I stopped in the ladies working there were incredibly nice and even sat down across from me to say hello. My boss and I stopped in yesterday to talk for an hour or so and they consistently show great hospitality and fantastic food. One of the best coffee shops in the area without a doubt.

Love this little place. Its nice that we can grab a menu and booth and come up to the register to order when we are ready. The menu is small and simple but very good. The owner is just fabulous too!

If atmosphere is your deal, Sames & Cook will work just great for you. Its probably 99% real deal time travel. I mean its not made to look oldtime, it IS OLDTIME. From the very high ceilings to the counter tops, they're legit...even antique! Very cozy, down home with a touch of reality.nnNow about WHY YOU CAME... I can't say with certainty, but I'm pretty sure a lot of what I ate came from a box...hopefully not an old box, but a box nevertheless. I mean it tasted good. You know, like boxed macaroni tastes good.nnI had Biscuits & Gravy, the large order and bacon...oh, and a very good coffee with cream and some added vanilla. The meal didn't seem like a large at all...maybe my 5 1/2 month old grand daughter might have been impressed. The biscuits were small and the gravy thin and little/not much sausage. It didn't taste bad...just average. The bacon was limp as I requested but cold. When some say cold they mean not hot. I mean cold. I love limp bacon but when its cold...not so much.nnThe waitress was kind and even refreshing. Not fake kind like some can be but genuinely nice!nnSo if you're lookingvfor atmosphere and don't mind average... go for it. Overall, it was a pleasant visit...just not great.

My Mom and I were walking to eat somewhere else when we walked past and this place caught our eye...we love places like this. Man the food was good and the people were better! Highly recommend it!
