I love history. I moved to this area in '01 and am amazed at the amount of history around here. This place was wonderful and I did learn so much about the original family there and things to do with the Civil War. This is a MUST GO place if even just once!

Guides in period costume give detailed history of the Waldschmidt family's home, and its tavern and store. This is where the last glacier stopped, and the house is built from rocks deposited there. The house was used by officers at adjacent Camp Denison, which was used for training Union troops during the War of Northern Aggression. ;) There's also a small Civil War Museum on the property.

Authentic Civil War museum and early 1800s homestead operated by the Ohio and local chapters of the D.A.R. Opened part time, check website for additional information. A fine rural example of life in newly settled American expansion into Ohio.
